A 90km long international alpine tourist route connecting Nagano and Toyama prefectures, the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route offers exquisite vistas of peaks as high as 3,000m. Its magnificent scale,varied geography, alpine flowers, and wildlife attract visitors of all kinds. Visitors can get to Tateyama terminal using a variety of transportation. The Snow grouse (ptarmigan)
The snow grouse (ptarmigan) is an extremely rare bird that has lived here since the ice age and has been declared a special Natural Monument. Approximately 200 birds can be found on Mt.Tateyama. These birds, which change their coloring with the passing of each season, have come to symbolize the cycle of change on Mt.Tateyama.

In order to preserve Tateyama's nature and keep it clean, take your garbage with you when leaving the mountain.
Tateyama is a 3000m heigh mountains, so weather conditions at the top of the mountain can be quite different from at the foot. Keep this in mind when planning your trip and dress appropriately.
