Welcome to the town of Tateyama's website! Working towards the administration putting the citizens first. I am Funahashi Takayuki. I was sworn-in as the new mayor of Tateyama town on the 10th of February 2006. As mayor, I have reconsidered my ideas about the purpose of the administration. In Local Government Law, there is a requirement to improve the welfare of residents. I think first and foremost, we need a community where people are reasonably satisfied with their life. It is necessary for vulnerable people to have the security of knowing they can get along in life. That is why, even though it seems unspectacular, I will try to increase the money available for the social and welfare system, in order to build a society with a sense of security. And I aim for a fair town, in which people living honestly are rewarded. For that purpose, I would like to start sharing information with you. We will put a lot of information on this website, so please feel free to ask us if you have any questions. Tateyama town is bordered by Toyama city (the capital of Toyama prefecture), and stretches southeast from the center of the prefecture. (at altitudes of between 12 and 3015 meters above sea level.) There are many popular tourist spots, including, Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route, Kurobe Dam,Shomyo Falls (highest & longest waterfall in Japan). The melting snow of Mt. Tateyama provides natural riches to the land. We would like to welcome you from our hearts. |
